Why choose a short cruise for your next mini break?

Are you considering going on a mini break? Personally, I love short getaways – there’s something really nice about the idea that even if you don’t have much time to spare, you can escape the daily grind and really indulge yourself. That said, I think it’s very easy to fall into the trap of doing the same old thing on your mini breaks, and if that sounds familiar I can thoroughly recommend mixing things up with a mini cruise.

It might not sound too feasible at first, but as you can actually book short P&O Cruises that last as little as two nights, they are really accessible. Below, I’ll take you through some of the other reasons why quick cruises make great mini breaks.

Do something different

In my opinion, one of the very best reasons for booking a mini cruise is that it gives you the chance to do something that little bit different. After all, most people pick country hotels or B&Bs for their mini break, and while this is all very well and good, it’s nice to shake things up a bit sometimes.

Of course, the beauty of choosing a mini cruise is that you get all the facilities you would on a standard cruise, which means there’s scope to try new things while you’re onboard. A new sport, for instance, or some ballroom dancing – or even just pampering yourself in the spa.

A brief dose of luxury

Speaking of pampering, mini cruises are absolutely ideal if you’re looking for a luxurious getaway. As I said before, you should have access to all the same facilities as you would on a longer voyage, which means you can indulge yourself to your heart’s content.

Personally, I’m always very excited to try out all the restaurants and cafes – especially if there’s a nice afternoon tea on the menu. You can also catch a movie in the onboard cinema, take a dip in the pool, try your luck in the games or have a few drinks in one of the bars.

Make the most of your time

Another thing I really like about mini cruises is that they allow you to make the most of your time. We all know what it’s like on short breaks – it’s really nice to get away from it all, but it does feel like it’s all over very quickly.

On a cruise, you don’t need to dedicate lots of time to travel – simply get to your departure port and then relax all the way to your next destination. Pick an itinerary that leaves from Southampton to make the very best use of your time.

Visit new places

My final reason for being such a fan of mini cruises is that they make it wonderfully easy to visit several destinations – something that’s really hard to do on any other kind of mini break without feeling like you’ve lost half your holiday to travel.

Mini cruises can last as little as two nights, but take you to destinations like Brussels, the Netherlands and Guernsey – all without any effort on your part. So, if you’re keen to explore new places, stop by amazing cities and visit pretty little islands, there’s really no better option!
