Monteverde

Monteverde is a beautiful rainforest that is full of adventure for both adults and kids. The zip line tours aren’t designed to be child-friendly, but there are a range of walking tours through pathways and over bridges in the forest that can be a great experience for all the family. It’s close to the popular Volcano Arenal, a sight that cannot be missed and that the kids will be in complete awe of. For a really nice family day trip, the nearby La Paz Waterfall Garden is a great choice of destination. There are also a number of river boat tours in the area that provide an awesome view of the rainforest and wildlife. Although the roads in this area are quite bad, there are a number of experienced tour companies.

Puntarenas

On the Pacific Coast, Puntarenas is another excellent destination for families with plenty of exciting things to do. If you stay here and are still interested in seeing the Monteverde rainforest, it’s close enough for you to arrange a day trip. Puntarenas is a popular holiday destination and there are a number of great places to stay whether you’re looking for a luxury Costa Rica villa or even want to stay in a log cabin. From this area you can take a boat trip to the beautiful Tortuga Island where you and the kids will be able to enjoy snorkeling. cr_slider1
