The Basic Clothing Items
You don’t have to pack your entire wardrobe to have enough clothes – and you don’t have to look less than you want to look either. The key is choosing items you can mix and match under all situations and all types of weather you may encounter where you travel.
The basic clothing items list should include the following: two pairs of shoes (one open and one closed for cold/rainy weather – and both of them comfortable), 2-3 shirts (a sleeveless top, a basic top and maybe a casual button-down), 1-2 cardigans and/or vests, one rain jacket (especially if your destination is known for rainy weather when you choose to visit it), 2 pairs of pants (one long, one short – and you can try to choose only one pair that can “transform” from long to short), socks and underwear (including bras). If you plan on swimming or going to the beach, include a swim suit as well. Also, you might want to include a casual dress as well.
What about Style?
If you want to look stylish on your travels, you can do it even if you don’t pack a lot of clothing items. The most important thing to keep in mind is that you should pack things that go well with each other. Pack clothing that shares the same color scheme (be it patterns or solids).
Also, pack things that are made from durable, high quality fabrics as well. Furthermore, remind yourself that synthetic fabrics dry the quickest – which is extremely useful especially if you want to travel for more than a couple of days and you will have to hand wash your clothes.
In terms of actual style, go for basics that will be suitable for a variety of destinations (including, but not limited to the beach, temples, cities, villages and so on).
Aside From Clothes, What Should You Pack?
Keep in mind that there are several other items you should pack with you aside from clothes as well. Most of the toiletry products can be bought at the supermarket when you reach your destination (and we’re talking here about soap, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste and so on). However, you may want to take your usual sunscreen and any face/body creams you use on a regular basis. Also, remind yourself to pack a first aid kit, Band-Aids, pain killers and any prescription drugs you have to take. Last, but not least, towels, sunglasses and an insect repellent should be in your luggage as well.
