Heading to Fort Lauderdale? Read this guide

Are you planning to take a trip to Fort Lauderdale? If so, this post is for you. Fort Lauderdale has recently become an even more popular destination for people of all ages, so if you’re planning a trip, here are a few things to consider:

How to get around

Fort Lauderdale doesn’t have the best public transport system- resident mostly rely on their cars. For this reason, car rental in Fort Lauderdale is smart. That way, you can travel straight from the airport to your hotel, without needing to rely on public transport or taxis, saving time and enjoying your independence.

Best time to visit

Fort Lauderdale is an excellent place to visit at any time of the year. However, the absolute best time for the best weather is anytime between December and April. You’ll enjoy temperatures between the high 50’s and 80’s, making it the perfect escape from a freezing winter. However, this also means that people from the north tend to flock to Florida, making this the high season, where you’ll see the most crowds and highest prices.

If you visit from June to November, you’ll have more humidity but fewer crowds, and will need to take an umbrella, a hat, and lots of sunscreen.

Where to stay

The great thing about Fort Lauderdale is it really does have something to offer everyone. There are thousands of hotel rooms available, and plenty of hotels close to Port Everglades, the Fort Lauderdale-hollywood International Airport, and of course, in the central areas.

What to do

There is not just plenty of things to do in Fort Lauderdale itself, but there are many great options for road trips close by- another reason to rent a car in Fort Lauderdale. If you love getting outdoors, you’ll enjoy Butterfly World- 10 acres of botanical gardens, aviaries, and butterflies. You’ll find it in Coconut Creek, and it’s still the world’s largest butterfly park.

If you like the idea of seeing alligators, monkeys, rare birds, and some of the fanciest houses in the area- all while eating, you’ll love the Jungle Queen Dinner Cruise. For people who love shopping, head to the Riverwalk, which is an upscale destination for both entertainment and shopping. You’ll find it in downtown Fort Lauderdale, and it’s also packed with clubs, restaurants, and cafes. If you really want to shop until you drop, Sawgrass Mills Mall has more than 350 shops.
