Get rid of the clutter

The last thing you want on your desk is a lot of clutter. It may take a bit of time for you to get rid of it completely, but doing this is really worth it because it will automatically make your entire office (the desk and the room) a cleaner and more welcoming place. Believe it or not, this can have amazing effects on your mental state and it can stimulate you to work much better.

Organize everything

If you keep a lot of documents at the office, always make sure they are properly organize. This way, whenever you need something, you will know very well how to search for it and you will not have to make an entire mess for just one sheet of paper.

Find a criterion according to which you organize your office documents and items, schedule the re-organization and go for it. For instance, you could organize your items according to their alphabetical order, according to their purpose, according to the people who use them the most, and so on.

Get a better desk

To be able to keep your desk and office un-cluttered, you should have a desk that has enough space for all the things you need. However, if your budget does not allow you to buy new desks for everyone, you should at least try to “upgrade” your current ones to something that makes things easier to organize.

For example, buying adjustable shelving to add on your desks will be much less expensive than buying brand new desks and it will do the “trick”, allowing everyone to organize their desk items in a cleaner and more space-friendly way.

Re-arrange the desks

If you want to get some extra space in your office rooms, analyse on how your offices are arranged at the moment and see if you cannot re-arrange them to free some of the space. For instance, arranging the desks one after the other may make the space feel very crammed – but arranging them in the shape of a square will add some extra space to the office and it will make everyone feel better.

Enlighten the office

Pull off those blinds and turn on the light. Even though this may not add actual extra space to the office, it will still make it feel much larger. Even more, some strategically placed lights can create the impression that even a small room is much more spacious, so it’s definitely worth experimenting with it.
