Planning a family ski trip is really exciting – there’s nothing more fun than carving your way down a beautiful slope or watching your children learn to ski. It’s a chance to have fun together, to bond and to do something completely different. There’s something special about going away to a winter wonderland, to enjoy the best that winter offers. Many families don’t go skiing because they’re worried about the costs, but if you do a little research you’ll be able to find some wonderful bargains. Here are our suggestions for family ski holidays in 2014:
Italy:
Italy is most often prized for it’s great food, warm people and lovely beaches. Many people don’t realise that Italy offers incredible skiing for a reasonable price. Italian people love children, which makes families feel particularly welcomed when visiting Italy, making it a very popular ski holiday destination. One of the bonuses of doing a physical activity like skiing when visiting Italy is that you’ll burn off many of the calories you devour from the delicious cuisine.
Switzerland:
When you think of Switzerland, you think of the snowy white alps. Switzerland offers some of the best skiing conditions in all of Europe, offering outstanding scenery and wonderful selection of slopes. Many of the villages offer their own skiing fields and have great beginner’s facilities so that little ones can learn too. If your children get a little tired of skiing or snowboarding after a few days, you can always choose to rent a toboggan and really make the most of the snow.
France:
One of the most popular European destinations, France has so much to offer. From the beloved Paris, right through to the world class ski slopes, France has a lot offer a holidaying family. If a wintery holiday in France is what you crave, you’ll be literally spoiled for choice here. Many of the French ski fields have great ski schools with low teacher to student ratios, so you can be assured your children will be safe while they’re learning to properly navigate the slopes.
Canada:
Home to a lot of big ski fields, Canada really comes into its own during the winter time. Because of the considerable size of Canada, you have to specifically choose which resort or ski field you plan to base yourself in before booking your flights. Skiing in Canada can be quite different to elsewhere in the world, with frequent heavy snow days bringing fresh, fluffy powder.
Wherever you decide to visit for your family ski holidays in 2014, make sure you spend some time researching the destination so you can have a lot of fun activities planned for your entire family. Skiing is a fantastic way to spend some quality time with your children, all while enjoying an active sport together.
