Florida is one of those great American states that simply doesn’t get the recognition it deserves (from tourists, not politically).
While many visitors will only focus on New York and California, Florida is a perfect family-friendly destination, and is full of fun things to do for people of many different ages.
Here are just a few fun things to do on holiday in Florida:
Go on a road trip
Florida is definitely a great place to visit, however many of its best attractions are somewhat spread out throughout the state. For this reason, it can be a good idea to rent a car and enjoy the time spent road tripping between cities and towns. This is a great option if you have enough time to relax and enjoy the drive, since you’ll have the freedom to change up your itinerary whenever you like.
Head to the theme parks
Whether you’re taking the kids or going alone, theme parks aren’t just for tiny humans. Be sure to spend some time in Orlando, and go to DisneyWorld (especially if you are bringing kids), and Universal Studios, which has some of the best rides in the country. Be sure to try Space Mountain and The Hulk, and Harry Potter World is a must-visit as well. Whether you want to see Cinderella’s castle and say hi to Mickey Mouse or gawk at the animals in Animal Kingdom, there are so many options you’ll need to plan your time well.
Be sure to from an authorised ticket seller, so you can be sure that you’ll get the best price and be getting legit tickets that you can use at the theme parks.
Go to the Everglades
Many people skip the Everglades when they visit Florida (even when they’re in Miami), which is a huge mistake cause this is an incredible attraction. You can either buy tickets for a bus transfer to and from the Everglades or drive yourself to the attraction, before taking a boat tour of the area. Unlike crocodiles, alligators will often be scared of people, so you’ll need to keep quiet so you can be sure to see them lazing in the sun.
Dance it out in Miami
If you’re on a family vacation, now is the time to find a babysitter, since the nightlife in Southbeach is excellent. If you happen to be in a nice restaurant or lying on the beach you may find a promoter who will give you VIP entry into some of the best clubs, or you can also find promotors hanging out on Twitter. Whether you want to dance all night to Top 40 hits, or head somewhere with live music, there are plenty of options in Miami.
Eat, eat, eat
Florida is excellent for foodies, whether you like typical American meals or delicious Latin American cuisine. You’ll also find Chinese, Italian, Indian, and more, so be sure to research some of the best restaurants before you arrive.
